Clarity Pediatrics, the company transforming the pediatric specialty care journey with an innovative new care model, has officially expanded its ADHD care across Texas, where it will provide the stated service to children between the age of 5 and 17.
Markedly enough, since starting out its journey in 2022, Clarity has established a significant presence in California, enjoying referrals from over 1,500 pediatricians, more than 25% of the state’s pediatric providers.
It also follows up on Clarity’s recently-concluded $10 million seed round, while simultaneously building upon the company’s recognition as a Digital Health Hub Foundation’s Kids Health Rising Star, and inclusion among Rock Health’s Top 50 in Digital Health.
To understand the significance Clarity’s latest move, though, we must take into account how more than 40% of school-aged children and adolescents are currently suffering from at least one chronic condition. These conditions include asthma, obesity, and behavior/learning problems etc. As a result, the healthcare industry is now up against a “Specialty Care Gap”.
Fortunately enough, in response, Clarity leverages an innovative model which packs together personalized support, expert multi-specialty care teams, and convenient telehealth appointments, all of it covered by insurance.
“We’re honored to be a trusted partner to parents and pediatricians, Our vision is to revolutionize pediatric specialty care through innovation and accessibility – and our Texas expansion marks an exciting milestone in that journey,” said Dr. Alesandro Larrazabal, co-founder and Chief Medical Officer at Clarity Pediatrics
Talk about Clarity Pediatrics’ clinical care model on a slightly deeper level, we begin from its promise to provide guideline-based coordinated care. This translates to how all Clarity’s personalized treatment plans and clinical programs are completely evidence-based, designed in accordance with American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) guidelines. Complementing that would be the company’s tech-enabled model which engages specialists, parents, and schools to improve upon outcomes and eliminate traditional barriers to care.
Next up, there is model’s bid to make effective behavioral interventions. You see, Behavioral Parent Training (BPT), the AAP’s recommended first-line treatment for school-age ADHD, makes it possible for parents to cultivate science-backed skills. These skills, once developed can go a long distance to promote positive behaviors, strengthen parent-child relationships, as well as establish successful routines.
The model in question also unlocks access to RUBI Parent Training. In case you weren’t aware, RUBI is designed to teach many of the same skills as BPT, but having said so, it has greater focus on ASD-related behaviors. In the context of Clarity’s model, it offers RUBI Parent Training to families of children with ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder Level 1.
Another detail worth a mention here is rooted in the model’s pledge to provide intelligible medication management. In essence, Clarity’s clinicians offer medication consultation and prescription management services for FDA-approved stimulant medications. On top of that, families who choose to leverage the model in question can also expect to receive counseling on lifestyle changes like diet, sleep, exercise, and screen time.
Hold on, we still have a couple of bits left to unpack, considering we still haven’t touched upon Clarity’s bid to provide affordable in-network coverage. The same can be understood once we learn that Clarity Pediatrics families covered by insurance paid average co-pay per appointment of $25 in 2024.
For Texas, the company will accept Optum (UnitedHealthcare), Evernorth (Cigna) and Aetna for behavioral health services, with expanded coverage coming soon.
Rounding up highlights would be a faster access to appointments. Unlike traditional care models that may leave families waiting up to a year for a specialist appointment, Clarity Pediatrics enables you to meet with a Clarity clinician in a matter of few weeks, with next-day appointments also available under certain circumstances.
“At Clarity Pediatrics, we’ve built a new clinical model that brings the best of evidence-based specialty care into every home,” said Dr. Larrazabal. “We’re focusing on ADHD care first because the need is so substantial and urgent: 7 million children in the U.S. have been diagnosed, with diagnoses increasing by over 40% in recent years. We’re proud to now serve families in Texas, and we’re aggressively planning for both more states and additional chronic condition care in the very near future.”
