A Potential Life-Saver on the Cards

Human beings, as we know, really boast a wide range of skills, but if we have to pick the most valuable one from the lot, it’s going to be our problem-solving capabilities. You see, this particular skill is really what allows us to answer different questions in life, and consequentially, take that next step in our journey. Now, even though the stated element has proved to be helpful pretty much by default, we have still tried to enhance it over the years. Talk about how we did it, we would actually end up inculcating a unique set of ideas. However, in hindsight, it’s hard to put any of those ideas above a certain one called technology. Technology gets to be the runaway winner here for reasons that go much deeper than we usually acknowledge. For instance, while the creation’s ingenious make-up rightfully dominates all the relevant discussions, we really don’t emphasize enough upon its reach. Unlike any other concept, technology has managed to impact each and every area on our spectrum, and such a dynamic has expectantly gone on to produce its fair share of beneficiaries, with an important one being our global healthcare sector. Technology’s foray into healthcare was pivotal beyond all limits, as it came at a time when the sector was practically plagued by obsolete methods. This, of course, changed big time. Notably, even after doing so much, the foray has continued to scale up healthcare under one capacity or the other, and a recent FDA approval should only add to the stated trend.

RapidAI, a San Mateo, California-based company, has officially bagged FDA’s approval for a system, which is designed to quickly identify pulmonary embolism and facilitate the required treatment. Named Rapid PE Triage & Notification, the system works in collaboration with the company’s Rapid Workflow for PE. It uses a real-time notification setup to empower the physicians in terms of making sure that the patient is receiving timely care, a feature that becomes all the more critical once you realize PE alone kills over 100,000 people in the US each year. In case the number isn’t staggering enough, you also have to consider the disease’s volatile nature. As per the CDC, sudden death is one of the most prevalent systems when it comes to PE, therefore quick identification in this context can genuinely save many lives.

RapidAI has already made a name for itself by bolstering clinical support through artificial intelligence. Apart from the newly-launched PE solution, the company has also delivered one groundbreaking AI-enabled imaging software for treating stroke patients.

“Building on our expertise in stroke, we’re confident this technology will help modernize PE care and meaningfully improve patient outcomes,” said Karim Karti, CEO of RapidAI. “Our goal is to build solutions that address the specific challenges associated with treating various conditions, as well as the communication and workflow issues faced by hospitals globally.”
