A Brighter Road to Recovery

As we know, our world is fragmented into different sectors, each one in place to cater a different need. However, just like us, these sectors also go through several periods of transition. They do so to efficiently align with our mindset at a given time. This, of course, also means that the pace of their transition pretty much mirrors the speed we are clocking, something which has gathered greater importance ever since technology came into play. It cannot be said that every single human being out there was quick to recognize technology’s potential, but once the majority had realized it, we wanted to instill the tech framework in almost every aspect of our lives. To make that happen, we got the wheels of evolution rolling across all our core sectors, and the result was just what we desired. The quality of our lives was suddenly on an unthinkable pedestal, but most importantly, we had ourselves an opening that promised to take us even further ahead, and that’s where we went. Instead of staying content with what we had achieved, we turned our focus to how we can build something big yet sustainable over it. The benefits of this move were immense, and one sector that got a big share of them was healthcare.

Healthcare has made some huge strides on the back of groundbreaking inventions that helped the sector in making a real difference in peoples’ lives. It’s almost impossible to keep a track of all the devices that joined forces to create a healthier world, and with a new entrant, the number is all but ready to go even higher.

Researchers at MIT recently took the veil off their newest discovery in sensory glove. The glove is specifically designed to facilitate the recovery of patients that suffered a stroke. It was conceived with an intention to help patients in reclaiming the strength and grip of their hand. Another feature of the glove, which one can argue is more important during the course of the treatment, is its ability to track patient’s progress. Basically, the medical professional asks the patient to wear the sensing glove and perform everyday activities, each one requiring a varying level of strength. As the patient carries out the activity, the micropillars embedded into the glove reshape in the accordance of the pressure being applied. This leads to a corresponding change in the electrical signal that the device is issuing. The medical professional studies these signals, and using them as the basis, he/she constructs their assessment.

The accuracy that this particular technology offers makes it a highly sought-after tool going forward.
