It’s a well-known fact that every era the world goes through tends to define human life in a different way. This happens largely because of the distinction in the surroundings. Even though there might be some shared patterns that connect us to the other generations, every period of time, at a granular level, is constructed in a wholly unique manner. Now, it might sound like one of those universal truths that don’t really have a direct impact on our lives, but if we care to dissect it, we would realize the importance of the said distinction. You see, each generation having a different driving force feeds into our growth, therefore adding an element to it that wasn’t there before. Furthermore, it also sets up the stage for the discovery of our next piece of inspiration, and if that’s the way we are going about it, we come to understand the role of olden times in forming our current driving force i.e. technology. A tech-centric world gives us a window into the human life through some really creative ways. For instance, one can gauge what’s going on across the world with the help of easily-accessible apps, thus encouraging us to be more informed yet mindful about what we choose to do with such a resourceful creation. So far, we have done a great job of it. Nevertheless, we are now switching the tide a little. After being impressed by the utility of tech platforms, we are giving them an increasingly active role in our lives. Our trust in technology can be easily signified by how we are letting it control the important areas in our lives such as healthcare, and within this particular capacity, we could be very well looking at an even bigger role for tech ideology. At least, that’s what a recent study hints at.
According to a major study done by JAMA Network Open, we might be near to a future where you can take care of your heart’s health just through an app. The app in focus here is from Hello Heart, and it has reportedly displayed real promise in terms of lowering the blood pressure of people dealing with hypertension. The published study revealed that over 84% of the stage II hypertension patients included in the study saw positive results upon using Hello Heart’s programs. What’s more is that they were able to sustain it for over 3 years. As far as the margin of reduction in blood pressure is concerned, it was observed to be around 20.9 mm Hg.
The study was structured in a way that saw subjects getting access to Hello Heart’s programs through their employers. Over 28,000 adults between the age of 43 and 58 were observed, while 21 employers in total got to play a part. These subjects were observed over a stretch of 3 years in which they were prescribed to measure their blood pressure at least twice. Furthermore, as a part of the program, they also got a connected blood pressure cuff, along with Hello Heart’s smartphone app, which is designed to do a range of tasks that include providing medicine adherence reminders and coaching to improve your health.
