Bringing Wellness to Your Wrists

As a result of people showing an increased sense of concern for their health over the last few years, the health sector has consistently clocked lucrative projections. New methodologies are being introduced to keep yourself fit and running. With such a level of growth, it was only about time when another sector that has shown a similar rate of progression would come knocking to join forces and create something historic. Many technology juggernauts have closely followed how things have unfolded so far in the medical sphere. They have been trying to observe their own customers simultaneously to see if they can find an opening to cluster up best of both the worlds. Staying true to their visionary image, Apple and Google have been at the forefront of all this, driving an idea that sounded fairly ludicrous at the beginning. Credit to their persistence, it is somewhat of a reality now. While both of these companies desired to gain a footing in the health sector for a long time, Apple did stay a wee bit ahead of Google in this journey. Apple Watches are now becoming synonymous to fitness and this is not lost on the millennials when they are thinking about how they can better take care of themselves.

Nevertheless, despite chasing in the race for supremacy over health technology, Google didn’t cave in. Google made their biggest move in this race when they acquired Fitbit for $2.1 billion. Now having Fitbit’s framework in place, Google plans to route their health-related efforts through this channel. In a bid to optimize the potential of their new acquisition, Google recently ordered a large-scale reshuffling of employee teams. The main objective is to get workforce equipped with the knowledge of health sensors and personal health records into their Fitbit division. Efforts directed towards the development of Google health services are being cooled off for now, leaving all the room for Fitbit to widen its horizons.

The experts have labeled it as a perfect collaboration. While on one hand Google now have Fitbit’s reach and comprehensive in-app health approaches, Fitbit, on the other hand, gets the benefit of Google’s AI expertise. For future, Google aims at building a platform that has its foundations in thorough batches of data, thus greatly adding to their clinical value.
