Collaborating to Scale up the Mental Picture

One of the greatest things about a human life is how it is always so open to becoming better. This has notably allowed us to go out and hit upon some huge milestones along the way, but if we look back for a second, we’ll see that literally none of our milestones can claim to be bigger than an idea called technology. Now, while the reason why technology stands above the rest is largely predicated upon its unique skill-set., it is also, at the same time, inspired by the manner in which those skills were used. The latter factor, in particular, will do a lot to give the creation a spectrum-wide presence, including a very well-timed appearance around our healthcare block. You see, technology entered the healthcare space right when the sector was starting to struggle against its own obsolete structure. This was fortunately altered by all those ingenious tech-driven ideas, but even after realizing a renewed medical landscape, the medtech concept will continue to enhance the picture under one capacity or the other. In fact, the stated pattern has grown more and more apparent over the recent past, and one newly-formed partnership should only solidify it moving forward.

Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield of Virginia is officially partnering with tech behavioral healthcare provider, Confidant Health, to provide addiction treatment services within the area. According to certain reports, the organizations will kick things off by focusing on members who are suffering from opioid use disorder. The target makes total sense once you consider that opioid deaths in Virginia went up by a whopping 42% during 2020, while drug poisoning deaths, in general, shot up at a 22% rate in the first half of 2021. As for why Anthem BCBS picked Confidant Health for the stated task, the Bethel, Connecticut-based company’s approach is, interestingly enough, centered around a digital platform, which makes various services like medication management, therapy, counseling, health, recovery coaching, and group support etc accessible for the masses out there, and  it does so in the most seamless way possible. Mind you, the company’s app doesn’t just connect you with qualified clinicians, but it also lets you chat with a chatbot named Alfie who was developed by a group of technologists, epidemiologists, health economists, behavioral health providers, and patient advocates. Alfie’s purpose is to talk to the patient and help them in figuring out their goals so to provide a brand of support that is tailored as per their needs.

“Confidant Health has been working to deliver a comprehensive array of both evidence-based and innovative services to members in Virginia; we’re thrilled that this value-based contract with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield supports this model of person-centered addiction care.” said Sam Arsenault Wilson, Chief Quality Officer and Co-Founder of Confidant Health.
