Innovating the Wearables Game to Scale Up Your Fitness

Garmin has officially announced the launch of vívoactive® 6, which happens to be its newest health and fitness smartwatch.

According to certain reports, the stated smartwatch arrives on the scene bearing an even brighter AMOLED display, as well as up to 11 days worth of battery life. The latter allows users to go for long stretches without having to stop for a recharge, making it easier to take advantage of popular health and fitness features like Body Battery™ energy monitoring, sleep coach, dozens of preloaded sports apps, new mobility workouts, and more.

More on that would reveal how the smartwatch features a smart wake alarm, a new tool specifically designed to look at lighter sleep stages during a pre-selected window of time to gently wake users with a light vibration. Once they are up, the device delivers at their disposal a morning report comprising of last night’s sleep, recovery insights, Body Battery, and daily calendar etc.

On top that, vívoactive® 6 is well-equipped to offer insights upon heart rate variability (HRV) status, an early indicator of overall wellness and how prepared the body is for the day ahead. In case that wasn’t enough, users can also, moving forward, customize the report even more with different themes, data, and inspirational messages.

Talk about the whole value proposition on a slightly deeper level, we begin by expanding upon the technology’s body battery feature, which empowers you to view your entry levels at different points throughout your day. The idea behind that is to find the best times for activity and rest. This feature paves the way for greater amount of details and personal insights on the ways in which sleep, naps, daily activities and high stress impact energy levels.

Next up, we must dig into the vívoactive® 6’s sleep coach functionality. This particular functionality will provide you with a sleep score and personalized coaching for how much sleep is recommended. Complementing that would be a facility for users to actively keep track of different sleep stages, naps and other key metrics.

Another detail worth a mention is rooted in the device’s bid to deliver HRV status. This involves monitoring heart rate variability while sleeping to better understand overall health and how the body is navigating the challenges of life and environment.

Hold on, there is more. You see, we still haven’t touched upon the availability of meditation and mindful breathing practices. These are basically guided meditation practices that are expertly-structured to reduce stress, anxiety, and other negative emotions. As for the breathwork activity, it includes tracking your respiration rates and stress levels.

We also haven’t touched upon vívoactive® 6’s Pulse Ox feature. This one has its utility in tracking blood oxygen saturation when awake or asleep.

Rounding up highlights would be a facility dedicated towards tracking a menstrual cycle or pregnancy, all for the purpose of giving users comprehensive exercise and nutrition guidance.

Among other things, we must mention how vívoactive 6 includes more than 80 preloaded sports apps, including the ones focused on walking, running, cycling and pool swimming, along with new daily suggested walking workouts. Furthermore, users can download a robust selection of step-by-step workouts for strength, HIIT, yoga, Pilates, mobility, and more through Garmin Connect.

Not just that, they can come expecting to access Garmin Coach running and strength training plans, plans that can adapt daily based on performance, recovery and health metrics to prepare users for their next race, train to achieve a milestone, or improve overall fitness. Beyond that, there is a feature available to track moderate and vigorous intensity minutes, VO2 max, and more.

For wheelchair users, the smartwatch offers wheelchair mode, which tracks daily pushes and provides weight shift alerts, handcycle workouts, and more.

“No matter your fitness goals, vívoactive 6 is designed to help you understand your body better than ever before. From your morning routine to your mid-day workout session to your nighttime wind down and everything in between, this smartwatch will be with you every step of the way,” said Susan Lyman, Vice President of Consumer Sales and Marketing at Garmin.
