After becoming one of the worst hit countries by the global pandemic, U.S. is finally looking poised on the path to recovery. As per the latest reports published by John Hopkins University, Covid 19 cases around the country are down by an encouraging 50 %. A larger chunk of this resurgence from the impact of the fatal virus can be put down to the introduction of vaccine, and how aggressively these vaccination drives are being carried out. Taking federal data into consideration, U.S. is reportedly rolling out 1.7 million doses of Covid vaccine every day. The collected data also indicates that almost half of the country’s population has received at least one of the two total doses. Currently, U.S. is averaging 23,407 new Covid patients per day over the past week, which may seem like a huge figure in its own right, but that’s precisely a 53% drop from 49,600 cases that were reported on the 1st of May. The present number of cases has been the lowest since June 2020.
Over the 44 states, the spread of Covid 19 has seen a decrease by 5%, which puts U.S. in a much better position holistically, if compared to the other countries that are experiencing a whole new surge in the total cases.
As far as death rate is concerned, U.S. is currently recording 571 daily Covid-related deaths. If talking on a state-level, Oklahoma reported 373 Covid-related deaths, however, the state also went on to reveal that this was a part of their “ongoing effort to investigate and reconcile backlog of Covid-19 related deaths. There has been a persistent recording issue where officials have added deaths that occurred on previous dates with the number that was observed on a given day. This particular issue does pose a sense of doubt over the interpretation of actual numbers, but as per the overall stock taken by the agencies, it is confirmed that the Covid-19 curve is now officially on a downward trajectory in the country.
While U.S. is still clocking over 1 million doses per day, the vaccine administration really peaked in mid-April when the country was averaging 3.4 million doses per day; a number which the experts believe has played a crucial role in the decline of the cases.
