Garmin has officially announced the launch of Instinct® 3 Series, which makes for its newest lineup of rugged smartwatches.
According to certain reports, the stated series comes decked up with AMOLED or solar-powered display for maximum battery life. You see, these AMOLED models can get up to 24 days on a single charge in smartwatch mode, whereas on the other hand, the solar charging models can get unlimited battery life.
More on the same would reveal how the new lineup also features a metal-reinforced bezel for optimal durability, along with a built-in flashlight on every model. Joining that is the fiber-reinforced polymer case and scratch-resistant display to again reinforce the durability aspect. Moving on, users can even come expecting MIL-STD 810 for thermal and shock resistance and a water-rated capacity of upto 100 meters.
We referred to how the Garmin’s latest innovation features a built-in flashlight, but what we haven’t yet touched upon is how it can also provides variable intensities, including a red light and strobe mode to help provide greater awareness in dark environments.
Markedly enough, both the AMOLED and solar options are available, at launch, in two sizes i.e. 45mm and 50mm. As for colors, the two iterations come in sleek colorways like black, black/charcoal, as well as bright and bold colorways like Neotropic and Neotropic/Twilight that are part of the new, limited-edition Tropical Pulse Collection.
Talk about Garmin’s new Instinct 3 Series on a slightly deeper level, we begin from its promise to deliver increased solar efficiency. Basically, a larger and more efficient solar lens is used here to harness the power of the sun in a much more effective manner. You see, if we compare it to Instinct 2 Solar, the new 50mm Instinct 3 Solar can be expected to generate more than five times the battery life in GPS mode when solar charging.
Next up, there is a facility dedicated towards 24/7 health and wellness monitoring. This includes the option to track steps, heart rate, advanced sleep monitoring, wrist-based Pulse Ox2, heart rate variability (HRV) status and more. In fact, for female users, the new smartwatches even allow the tracking of menstrual cycle and pregnancy, all while fetching them the necessary exercise and nutrition information.
“With trendy, limited-edition colors and a durable design, Instinct 3 is the smartwatch you can wear whenever, wherever. Packed with connected features, popular built-in sports apps and 24/7 health and wellness monitoring, the latest lineup is built to help you follow your passions—whatever they may be,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin Vice President of Global Consumer Sales
Then, we have a Morning Report feature which provides you with, upon waking, a customized look at last night’s sleep, the day’s calendar and HRV status. Smart notifications capabilities are also present in the mix to help you receive emails, texts and alerts right on the watch when paired with a compatible Apple® or Android™ smartphone.
Garmin’s customers can further access the Garmin Messenger app which can come handy for them when communicating with friends and family via two-way text messaging right from the watch. Not just that, they can also access Garmin Pay™ contactless payments to seamlessly manage checkouts and transit systems through participating providers.
Hold on, we still have a few bits left to unpack, considering we still haven’t touched upon the availability of multi-band GPS with SatIQ, something which contributes to an experience consisting of superior positioning accuracy and an optimized battery life.
Rounding up highlights would be a solution in Garmin Share. This particular solution can let you quickly share saved locations, courses and workouts with other nearby, compatible Garmin smartwatches and Edge® cycling computers.
Among other things, we must touch upon the solution’s TracBack® routing, which helps you chart a route back to the starting point, as well as reference points of known spots relative to that location. The built-in altimeter, barometer and 3-axis electronic compass can also be used to navigate the next trail. Apart from that, users can pair their Instinct 3 with the Garmin Explore™ App to review more detailed maps, create waypoints and courses.
