Human beings are known for many different things, but most importantly, we are known for our tendency to grow on a consistent basis. This tendency, in particular, has allowed us to hit upon some huge milestones, with technology appearing as a major member of the stated squad. The reason why technology enjoys such an esteemed stature among people is largely down to its skill-set, which realized all the possibilities for us that we couldn’t have imagined otherwise. Nevertheless, a closer look will reveal how the whole runner was also very much inspired by the way we utilized those skills across a real-world setting. The latter component was, in fact, what gave the creation a spectrum-wide presence, including a well-timed appearance on our healthcare block. Technology’s linkup with healthcare was perfect in regards to the timing as it came right when the sector was beginning to struggle against its own obsolete structure. Fortunately enough, this reality went through a complete overhaul under the new regime, but even after going that far, the all-new medtech concept will somehow continue to drum up the right notes. This has turned more and more evident on the back of our recent progression, and a newly-launched program does a lot to keep the stated trend alive and kicking.
Banner|Aetna, the Arizona health plan owned by Banner Health and Aetna, has officially unveiled a new billing program, which is conceived just to simplify the healthcare billing process for its members. According to certain reports, the program combines relevant information from the provider and the payer to give members an extensive lowdown on factors like benefits included, amount their provider billed, what insurance covered, what they have already paid, and what they still owe. Beyond these foundational details, the program also offers services such as automated billing and claim payment status updates, therefore allowing you to stay informed about the status of your bill as it goes through the core stages of creation, submission and payment process. Now, the initiative is there, but what about the implementation? Well, to take care of that bit, Banner|Aetna has announced it will be tracking the program’s success across primary metrics of speed and cost. Furthermore, the health plan has also put-together a new customer service line just to make sure that all billing-related queries are being resolved in a timely manner.
“Recovering from a recent illness or hospital stay is challenging enough without the added stress and confusion related to understanding medical bills. In our joint venture model, both insurer and provider have a vested interest in working together. In addition, all parties care deeply about members having a positive experience throughout the entire health care treatment cycle. As a joint venture, we have the benefit of complete transparency with our parent companies around data and information, which made it possible to effectively collaborate to develop frictionless billing,” said Joanne Mizell, chief operating officer at Banner|Aetna.
Make no mistake, this isn’t the time we are witnessing a company trying to solve the confusion around healthcare billing process, but so far, all those initiatives have failed to achieve that operational and financial balance between the provider and the insurer. Hence, assuming Banner|Aetna is able to break the deadlock, it will be a massive step forward for our entire healthcare space.
