One of the first things that Joe Biden did after assuming office was to lay out a focused approach for country’s healthcare-related efforts. He did so by introducing an assortment of ideas and one such idea was to have a clear goal in terms of Covid 19 vaccine administration. So, Biden put forth an ambitious goal in front of US healthcare sector of vaccinating 70% of country’s population by 4th July 2021. While the country got off to a promising start, things are currently looking a little dicey, and achieving Biden’s goals looks like one uphill battle. As of now, almost 63% of adults in US have got at least one dose of vaccine, with over 371,000 adults joining the number per day over the last week. This isn’t too bad of a rate to have, but in order to achieve Biden’s goal, the country would have to clock nearly 564,000 adults each day. US had been trying to touch that number but they have constantly fallen short of it. To contextualize the numbers, the country would need to vaccinate another 18 million adults to hit the 70% mark. At the current rate, US would have 68% of population vaccinated by 4th of July, missing the targeted figure by 2%. The current pace would see US achieving the 70% mark around mid-July. It must be noted that these numbers are crunched more from a national standpoint, as several states within the country have already completed the goal set by President Biden. The states who have reached the mark include California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, Hawaii, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, Rhode Island, and Vermont. There are many others that look well on track to clock the 70% figure; however 3 states are still nowhere near to achieving the given target. As things stand, Alabama, Louisiana, and Mississippi might not even vaccinate half of their population by July 4th.
The central government is trying to bolster the vaccine administration by introducing a series of initiatives. On Wednesday, Biden announced a “National Month of Action”, indicating towards the country’s blueprint for immunizing every person living across America
